Weddings And Honeymoons In Mauritius

Weddings And Honeymoons In Mauritius Submitted By: Ben Cartwright There can be few places more romantic than the Indian Ocean for your dream honeymoon or wedding in Mauritius. Mauritius in particular combines the magnificent scenery and beautiful beaches with luxury resorts inclusive of all the facilities you would expect from a five star destination. Beachcomber is a Mauritian owned hotel company, and as a result they have chosen the best spots on the island for each of their eight hotels and resorts. Each is as individual as you are, and offers a unique experience of this stunning, long haul destination. Mauritius itself is located in the Southern Hemisphere, just on the Tropic of Capricorn, surrounded by unstoppable views of the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. The island itself is small, with a journey from top to bottom taking no longer than 2 hours. The capital is the vibrant Port Louis on the north west coast, with the main business district being Curepipe in the centre of the island. Temperatures are warm year round, dropping to around 24 degrees in June/July, and creeping up to the low 30?s in January/February. Rainfall is lowest in June, July, and only up to about 9 inches for January/February?? all in all a year round destination. Weddings at Beachcomber Hotels are popular with around 300 every year taking place, in one of the 8 hotels. They guarantee only one wedding each day in any one hotel, so you can rest assured that on your special day you will have the undivided attention from all the hotel staff! They offer expertise and unrivaled attention to detail, in a wonderful location. You will also meet your own personal wedding coordinator, who will take care of everything from matching bouquets and button holes, to arrange witnesses for your ceremony if required. You are free to choose where you get married within the resort, whether it is in the stunning gardens, by a pool or on the beach, the flexibility and choice really is yours. All of the hotels in the Beachcomber group are suitable for weddings and honeymoons, and choosing will really depend on your particular requirements. If undiluted luxury in a small, boutique, Leading Hotel of the World is what you are looking for, then the Royal Palm is a must. This is arguably the premier hotel on Mauritius, with the finest discrete service, first class accommodation, and an unrivalled location, on a stunning beach, close to Grand Baie. If you are looking for relaxed, barefoot romance in understated accommodation, with a choice of fine dining then the Trou Aux Biches hotel is a must. Located on one of the best beaches on the island, the Trou Aux Biches is one of the most popular choices for weddings and honeymoons in the Indian Ocean. The friendly relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere makes a stay here one you will savour and want to repeat. If you are are looking for some activity during your honeymoon, then the Shandrani hotel comes highly recommended. It is a superb five star all inclusive hotel with a unique combination of superb accommodation and facilities, with a fully inclusive service. Not only are all your meals and drinks included, but so are some spa treatments, and most of the sporting activities including scuba diving. Paradis and Dinarobin Hotels are located on the stunning south west peninsula of the island, with Le Morne Mountain as a backdrop to the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. These hotels offer spacious resorts, with elegant and luxurious accommodation. Paradis is the more vibrant of the two, with more rooms, restaurants, pools and a beach. The Dinarobin is the more elegant of the two, with all suite accommodation and a stunning spa. Whichever you choose to stay at, the facilities of the others are available for your use. Finally the three other hotels, Le Victoria, Le Canonnier and Le Mauricia. These are the most vibrant of the Beachcomber hotels, and offer excellent value for money. Le Victoria is particularly suitable for families, and is offered on a half board basis. It?s located close to Port Louis, and Grande Baie, so if you get itchy feet then it?s well worth considering. Both Le Canonnier and Le Mauricia are fantastic value, both are inclusive hotels and great if you have a lively group for a wedding. They are located on the north west of the island. Le Canonnier is on the old Cannon Point, one of the most spectacular locations, with uninterrupted views of the Ocean in more than one direction! Le Mauricia is closer to Grand Baie, and strolls along the beach in the evening for pre dinner drinks or a wonder around the shops are well recommended. In all a honeymoon or wedding in Mauritius won?t disappoint. The attention to detail for your wedding, with personal wedding co-ordinators, and the guarantee of only one wedding a day ensures that the day is as perfect as you planned. The choice of hotels, accommodations, dining options and locations will guarantee you can find a perfect location for the honeymoon of your dreams. Article Tags: hotels, le, wedding

Gothic Weddings - Planning The Wedding of Your Darkest Dreams

A Gothic wedding doesn't necessarily have the bride dressed in black, black makeup, skulls and all other types of gruesome items everywhere - despite popular belief. Now, if that's what you want, go for it, but that doesn't necessarily fit the "Gothic" theme. The choice is up to the Gothic bride. A Gothic wedding doesn't necessarily have the bride dressed in black, black makeup, skulls and all other types of gruesome items everywhere - despite popular belief. Now, if that's what you want, go for it, but that doesn't necessarily fit the "Gothic" theme. The bride could easily get away with a white gown if that is what she would like to wear. The bride could walk down the isle to Metallica, but she could also easily walk down the aisle to the typical wedding theme. The choice is up to the Gothic bride. As our Gothic bride enters the room, her dress isn't the typical "Gothic" standard, by any means, but it suits her none the less. Her dress is white, with lace draped along the neck line. Our bride's hair is pulled back into a simple bun. The first difference between her Gothic wedding and any other wedding is our bride is not walking down the aisle to any typical love song, but instead our couple is loudly playing a Metallica song. How bizarre? Not exactly. Weddings are meant to express ourselves and our partner as we accept each other into our lives. Some brides prefer the traditional wedding, but not all do. Our Gothic bride prefers anything but the traditional. Her music of choice? Metallica. Her wedding of choice? More of a romantic gothic theme. Her wedding ceremony will not be held in a traditional church. Instead her wedding ceremony is at the center of a cathedral. Draped along the walls is heavy velvet fabric, and along the aisle are scattered petals of roses in red, white, and black. Both the ceremony and the reception will be celebrated in this room. The guests are all sitting around tables draped in deep red cloth. Atop each of these tables are 4 small black boxes, with surprise wedding favors inside. Black velvet photo frames displaying our couple are set in the center of the tables as well. Burgundy and black satin pillow sachets displaying the guests' names are set around the table as seat assignments later to be taken with as a party gift. The wedding, even though it is meant to be "gothic", doesn't have to be dark and dreary and the wedding favors chosen can be any type that the Gothic couple likes. One Gothic couple decided to hand out heart shaped cookie cutters as wedding day favors. Another couple chose candle wedding favors with XOXO printed in black across them. Other items ideal for favors for guests can be heart shaped silver corkscrews for those that enjoy a good glass of wine from time to time. Or perhaps a deck of cards in the shape of a heart, or with a wedding couple printed on the front that is actually two dogs. If you're a little nervous on handing out an item to someone that they might not like, small leather picture key chains are an item that is just about perfect for any guest, a neutral item that any one can enjoy! Just because we're going gothic doesn't mean you can't have a little fun in the process! Remember, a wedding above all else is a celebration, have fun no matter what wedding theme you choose! Why Themed Weddings Are Unique

Why Themed Weddings Are Unique Submitted By: Joe Palladino [See Author?s Biography] Themed weddings are becoming more and more popular because they are really the most memorable kinds of wedding celebrations. Your wedding day is the most important celebration you will ever have so it is really a priority that you make it extremely special so that you, your new souse, and each and every individual guest can really remember it and all the great things that happened. Themed weddings are really great because they provide a way for you to collect your ideas and really put them into something spectacular that will impress your guests and display your decorating prowess. Also, another amazing thing about themed weddings is that you can really show your personality and you can really create the ultimate manifestation of your dream wedding that you have always wanted since you were really young. Your personality will be felt by all of your guests because you will have chosen the theme and then embellished upon it will all the proper decorations. The theme you choose will really say a lot about your personality, preferences, and the way you and your spouse have bonded and will continue to increase that bond now that you have entered into an eternal marriage. Some of the most popular wedding themes are beach themes, seasonal themes, and anything else you can think of that represents who you are and what you expect to get out of your relationship. Beach wedding themes are really more for the types of people that like to be relaxed and feel really comfortable. If you love the beach then this is a great way to show everyone how much being relaxed and carefree means to you. The seasonal themes are really great because you can use different symbols from each season. Also, bringing in colors from a particular season really makes all your guests feel like they are really taking part in the feelings of that season because the colors really evoke emotional responses. A lot of other themes are a little bit more traditional but still authentic. The most important thing to remember is to make you wedding really unique and memorable. Another great example of a themed wedding would be the ever popular calla lily wedding favors. Calla lily wedding favors are a girl's best friend. This popular collection seems to be a big hit at every wedding and bridal shower. Calla lily wedding favors bring a touch of prestige and elegance to any special event. Your wedding reception guest or wedding party will simply love these favors as gifts. Making sure that your wedding favors go along with you theme is a really important part of the whole decorating experience and the ways that you make your guests feel with the atmosphere you create. This is important because each of your guests will be bringing home a wedding favor, which is a representation of the whole night and the rest of your future with your new spouse. To add to your very special day, choose a theme wedding the most fits your personal style.

Weddings at Sea

A wedding, whether it is your first or fifth, can be the best, and the most stressful, experience of your life. Except, of course, if you choose to tie the knot at sea. When getting married on a cruise ship, you'll have a host of professionals trained to accommodate your every need during your cruise wedding. From cakes to tuxedos, accommodations to the reception hall, you won't have to go off-board for anything. Unless of course you choose to have your reception on shore. In which case, the amenities come to you. Imagine saying your vows on the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean, on a hillside vineyard in Italy, or on the snowy-white glaciers of Alaska. The possibilities are endless. There are a few stipulations when getting married on a cruise ship. First, the captain generally does not marry the couple (except with Princess Cruises). A wedding officiant will be provided by the cruise line for that purpose. Second, cruise weddings take place while in port, not while at sea. You can choose to get married on board when in port or at a selected location on shore. Finally, the bride and groom must be sailing on the cruise in order to get married on it. Your guests can, however, board the ship for the wedding without sailing on the cruise. Many cruise lines provide cruise wedding packages and coordinators to make sure that your day is special and runs smoothly. Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International, all provide wedding packages for couples sailing on their ships. Crystal Cruises and Cunard Line do not allow weddings on their ships. The cost of tying the knot at sea ranges from $900 to $2,400 and generally includes transportation to and from the port, wedding facilities, wedding officiant, wedding coordinator, ceremony music, flowers for the bride and groom, cake, champagne, photographer, wedding album, and dinner. Many will also arrange spa and hair appointments, as well as tuxedo rentals. Of course, each line has their own packages. Read below for information on the most popular cruise lines and their wedding options. PLEASE NOTE: Prices provided on this page are general indicators of wedding package costs. They are provided to give a general indication of costs for couples in the early stages of planning their weddings. Stated prices are not guaranteed and do not include taxes. Carnival Cruises For those looking to celebrate a special occasion, Carnival offers a variety of packages designed to suit every need. Wedding ceremonies are performed by a wedding officiant before the ship sets sail and Carnival provides a photographer who takes pictures both during the ceremony and the reception. These photos are available for purchase during the cruise. The basic cruise wedding package is for eight guests (including bride and groom) and includes the ceremony, bridal bouquet, groom's boutonniere, bottle of sparkling wine, wedding cake, wedding music, and photography service. This package is priced starting at $750, prices vary depending on the port. The other wedding packages offered by Carnival add to the basic package with a combination of wedding luncheon, open bar, champagne, and the accommodation of up to 20 guests. These packages range in price from $1,050 to $1,450. Guests may wish to add a videographer, tuxedo rental, additional food and beverage service, or live entertainment. Wedding packages range in price from $1200 USD to $2,399 USD and can accommodate anywhere from eight to twenty five guests. Wedding Package Norwegian's basic package will accommodate a maximum of eight guests (including the bride and groom) and includes the wedding officiant, wedding music, keepsake marriage certificate, ceremony location, wedding cake, champagne, and a photograph package. The photograph package provides the bride and groom with twelve portraits, a mini-album, and two 8" by 10" selected portraits. You can add to this package with such amenities as additional guests, a one-hour, open bar reception with hors d'oeuvres, additional champagne, additional photographs, a two-hour sit-down lunch with wine, and live music. The most basic package includes a bottle of champagne, framed formal portrait, hors d'oeuvres delivered to your stateroom, and breakfast-in-bed with champagne. All for $135 per couple. Passengers can add to that package with amenities like Princess terrycloth robes, spa visit, a visit to the bridge, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Prices range from $135 to $430 per couple, depending on the package. Royal Caribbean International - Weddings Royal Caribbean offers seven wedding packages ranging in price from $1,095 to $1,595. Duet, the simplest onboard package, includes the wedding coordinator, wedding ceremony, wedding officiant, ceremony music, bride's bouquet of roses, groom's boutonniere of roses, wedding cake for four, photographer, one wedding photo, wedding certificate keepsake, and champagne. Additions that are made for other packages include more wedding photos, larger bridal bouquet, champagne and breakfast-in-bed for two, round-trip transportation to the port in a chauffeured limousine, and chocolate-covered strawberries in the couple's stateroom. These packages can be enhanced to include live music, videography, beauty appointments, tuxedo rentals, wedding invitations/announcements, wedding reception, and marriage license processing. Ask your Cruise Consultant about the cost of these additions. Shore Weddings For weddings on shore, Royal Caribbean includes many of the same amenities found in the Duet package, but adds indigenous wedding flowers, escorted transportation to and from the territorial court and ceremony site, local wedding cake, and secured, marriage license documents. Renewal of Vows If you would like to renew your vows on a cruise ship, you can do so for $400. Your vows can be renewed in the wedding chapel (if there is one) or in a designated spot on board. This cost includes the ceremony, ceremony music, bouquet for the bride, boutonniere for the groom, keepsake certificate, wedding cake for four, photograph, and champagne. eco-chic weddings - Book Review

Since the urgency for saving the planet has prompted eco-friendly options by all of us, what can be timelier than a book for environmentally correct weddings with June just a step away? The book, ?eco-chic weddings,? promotes stylish and beautiful weddings for the socially responsible couples who would like to celebrate their special day with customary splendor but without sacrificing the environment. In the introduction, the author--Emily Elizabeth Anderson--starts out by pointing at the wedding industry?s financial hold on couples and their families as she concentrates on the three tenets of conservationism: reduce, reuse, and recycle. The reduce, reuse, and recycle ideas include the money spent on the setting, because where and when to hold the wedding ceremony is the first and probably the most important consideration. Among the writer?s suggestions are a park, the jungle, or a vineyard. In the initial chapters, the subject of wedding rings comes up. Although I am not sure I agree with Anderson on faux diamonds, the idea of a family heirloom ring or a ring designed by a local artist makes a lot of sense. The wedding attire chapter is a brilliant one, since I am a cotton person; and even if I wore the color white myself a very long time ago, I always hated white on a bride. White has chauvinistic and--in some cultures--ominous connotations and is rarely reusable. The following chapters are on wedding registry, invitations, flowers and design, favors, health and beauty, menu, and transportation, followed by two more chapters on honeymoon and married life. Each chapter is full of practical ideas and lists for resources. At the end of the book in the appendix, more lists of resources are offered. Throughout the entire book, the author advises to choose companies that care about recycling by not placing their products inside needless packaging. The language of the book is clear, crisp, and direct, and the style of the author is convincing. ?Be sure everything you use can either be recycled or composted--that means having organic flowers because they won?t introduce toxic elements back into the environment. Make the design elements of your day out of items you can recycle (paper, ribbons, recyclable plastics).? From the chapter ?Flowers, Style, and Design.? ?eco-chic weddings? is in paperback with168 pages and ISBN-10: 1578262402 and ISBN-13: 978-1578262403. Emily Elizabeth Anderson is a freelance writer, certified yoga instructor, and an advocate of sustainable style. She lives in New York City, and her website is EmilyAnderson.com. Anderson has worked for Vanity Fair, Donna Karan New York, and Martha Stewart Living as the Event Director. She has studied interior design at the Parsons School of Design. ?eco-chic weddings? is a resource not only for brides and grooms but for everyone, because the author urges and inspires the readers to live responsibly and take care of the environment. The Hip Gift Giver - Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduation, Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries

Mark Twain once said, ?Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do." So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.? When choosing a gift, there are some essentials for making Twain?s quote a reality for friends and relatives. Braving long lines, scouring dozens of stores and spending way too much time in the greeting card aisle are all things of the past. Being a great gift-giver does not mandate stress and a maxed-out credit card. All it takes is a little thought, preparation, and inspiration! Whether it?s a gift meant for a birthday, holiday, wedding, or ?just because?, these simple suggestions will help dress up any gifting style and help the one?s you love Explore, Dream, and Discover like never before. 10. Start early, and don?t wait Slow down! Enjoy! Buying a gift should be fun ? not a last minute hassle. Keep you list in the back of your mind and make sure to give yourself plenty of time to plan and shop. This allows you to be your most creative. 9. Stop. Think. Shop.. The best gifts are those that hit closest to home ? so stop and think: What is the recipient passionate about? Animals or Sports? What makes them smile? Adventure or Relaxation? What makes this person tick? Art or the Outdoors? Now use your answers as a map, guiding you towards the gift that fits their blueprint! 8. Just like the car you drive, the books you read or the outfit you wear ? your gift says something about you Remember that your gift should reflect your personality as much as theirs. So whether you put your artistic style into the wrapping or incorporate some of your own wild style into the gift itself, just get creative and put your own flair into it! 7. Create a signature gift Signature gifts are one of the easiest and most classic ways to create a lasting gift giving impression. Choose a theme and send the same gift?year after year?with a slight twist each time. Whether it is an around the world gourmet basket, a blue Tiffany?s box, or a new experience, your gift recipients will always look forward to something they can count on and know will be exciting and wanted. 6. Give a gift that keeps on giving Gifts the recipient can use again and again or that create lasting memories will ensure they?ll be thinking about you always! Consider gifts that will touch their lives and hearts for years to come. Gifts such as a pottery class, a ride in a race car, a family portrait, or private time with a personal trainer all strike a chord by enriching the recipient?s life with something unforgettable. 7. Spread the joy Part of the joy of giving a gift is the connection it establishes or strengthens between two people. Why not enhance those connections by giving a gift they can share with their family and friends?including you!? Wine, circus excursions, cruises along the Potomac or weekend getaways are all gifts that provide the opportunity to create new memories and spend time with old friends. 4. Presentation is everything With the right touches, simple can be elegant. Whether your gift fits neatly into a small bag or in a box all wrapped up, the key is in the details: a matching bow, brightly colored tissue paper, or a hand-made card will all be sure to garner ?ooo?s? and ?ahhh?s?. 3. Relive the memories You?ve laughed, you?ve cried ? celebrate that special bond by incorporating your time together into your gift. Reference an inside joke, recall an embarrassing moment, or insert a photograph of times past into your gift message . They?ll love your gift even before they see what?s inside. 2. Don?t try to be perfect Because no one is! Your preparation and thoughtfulness will come shinning through. At the end of the day, your recipient will be thankful to be remembered, regardless of your gift. Your creativity and personal touch are icing on the cake. 1. Treat yourself When you?ve completed shopping, give YOURSELF something to look forward too. Reward yourself for accomplishing your gift-giving goals. Whether it?s big or small, the newest trend or an antique keepsake, the goal remains the same: to create a lasting connection among friends, colleagues and loved ones that will extend beyond the life of any object you can buy ? after all, it?s truly the thought that counts. Kim AuBuchon is the chief operating officer at Excitations.com the premiere experiential gift company. Top 10 Mistakes When Hiring A Live Band For Weddings And Private Functions

You'll only need to look at your credit card statement for 20 seconds to know that the event is costing an arm and a leg already. The bills are stacking up what with the venue costs, catering, transport, 100's of little extras we never even thought of and that 'must have' new outfit. You need some entertainment but can't stretch to hire a band. A DJ will do - won't it? Well, quite possibly. There are times when a DJ will be great and there simply isn't room for a band. (See Top 10 mistakes when hiring a band). Let's face it, if all of the guests are going to be completely sozzled by half past eight and wouldn't be seen dead on a dance floor anyway, don't hire a band. It may look and sound great but bands don't want drunken bums falling all over the place and having a dance floor littered with casualties is never great to perform for. Have a DJ - give the band a break! There may be occasions when having a band is just par-for-the-course. Your guests will expect one and as long as there are a few musicians tootling or plucking about in the corner they will be happy. Well, maybe, but choosing a band on that basis is like having a dinner party and serving your guests 'something out of the freezer'. Most people find out what their guests do and don't like before putting a menu together that suits the occasion. I've been fortunate to attend some fantastic suppers in the past and, having stuffed myself to the gills with fabulous food have asked for the recipe - and actually meant it!! There is no doubt that spending a little more time thinking about our musical menu will add to the success of your event. For the majority of us, our memories are interspersed with some seriously great musical experiences. I don't confess to being at Woodstock in '69, seeing Sinatra at Caesars Palace in the 80s or Michael Jackson at Wembley in '97. However, I'm sure many of you will recall the uncontrollable excitement when hearing some of your most loved artists perform at gigs you've been to. It's not just the music is it? It's the sound, the buzz, that incredible sensation when a collective group of music lovers gets together and 'worships' something that is great. Don't get me wrong - hiring a bad band is awful. Usually, aside from a few exceptions, you get what you pay for. But, let's face it, how many times in our lives will we have an occasion to hire a band? A wedding, a 21st or 40th birthday party? It's worth pushing the boat out for these events. (Flashback to mother - "If you're going to do something - do it properly"). Remember - the music is a treat for you and your guests so stretch the purse string that little bit more and mark the occasion with something everyone will talk about for a long time to come? That is the real reason to hire a good live band. It's about making memories. You'll never get that time back. Copyright: http://www.1311events.net

The Actuality Of Arranged Weddings

Arranged Weddings have been a subject of curiosity for centuries. Authors across the ages have explored this matter at length, and it still surfaces in mythical works today. What's the plea? Is it the charm with the lack of lust and desire people cultivate in North American society? People strive on the constituent of risk, of the prohibited, while an arranged wedding is typically a safe way to make sure a family's consent of a merger. As well as, many of today's romance novels pact with marriages of convenience. The heroine marries the hero because she needs him, whether for financial reasons, or because her children need a father -- there are as many reasons to marry as there are novels dealing with this matter. Yet although the marriage isn't primarily based on love, there's always that sensual tension simmering under the surface, and as readers, we know it's unavoidable that the two are going to fall deeply and irreversibly in love. But what about actual life, where things don't always work out so well? Arranged marriages are commonplace in a number of countries, such as Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan and India. They're more common than you'd think even in North America, where cultural diversity is cherished and encouraged. Juvenile people in countries where arranged marriages are commonplace are told from an early age that their spouse will be chosen for them. To deny an arranged marriage is seen as a sign of disregard toward the family. But how are suitable spouses chosen? In Japan, for instance, "when a woman reaches the marriageable age of 25, she and her parents compile a sachet of information about her, including a photograph of her in a kimono and descriptions of her family background, education, hobbies, accomplishments and interests. Generally, the most significant feature of choosing a suitable spouse is the bond between the two families, rather than the relationship between the couple being married. Property or land with the aim of securing social status sometimes seals marriage agreements. Do arranged weddings work? Opinions tend to be different. Statistics place the divorce rate for arranged marriages much lower than those in the United States, where marriages out of love are the rule. Though, research also shows that the stress a married couple encounters from both society as a whole, and from the respective families, suggests that divorce is often not an option. Can love grow out of an arranged marriage? Totally, and in the same way that love can grow in romance novels from a marriage of convenience. But there's more to love than finding a suitable match. Love can grow for many reasons, from lust at first sight to friendship that develops over a long period of time. It's not possible to foresee whether a union will be successful. The only two people who can make it work are the bride and groom, the hero and heroine of their own story. Weddings 101 - Essential Tips For Choosing A Photographer

For ladies and gentlemen alike, weddings are the type of thing that dreams are made of. If a wedding is what you desire, you probably have a certain idea in mind. Things should go your way on your wedding day and come together perfectly to create a memory that will last you and your loved one a lifetime. Choosing the right wedding photographer has a lot more bearing on the failure or success of your wedding and the way that you remember your wedding than you think. Without a good wedding photographer, all you have to rely on to pass down your beautiful wedding memories is your own memory?and we all know that the mind doesn?t last forever, whereas pictures might as well. The fact about wedding photographers is that frankly, they are not cheap at all. You might be able to find a good deal on a wedding photographer from some agencies or individuals, but you might want to check out some examples of work that particular photographer has already done, just to be sure that what you are getting is what you really want and are willing to pay for. Here are a few tips to help you choose the right wedding photographer for your special day: *Figure out exactly how much they are going to charge you per hour of service, or whether or not they charge a base fee just for attending the event. *Ask the potential wedding photographer how many hours count as a standard day to them; some photographers make most of their money charging their clients to work hours above and beyond their normal schedule, so be sure to find out in advance. *Make sure you read the contract first. This is the most important thing of all. Your contract can really make or break your wedding photographer experience. This is where you get all of the information on hourly rates, number of hours to be at the event, and any additional costs beforehand, to avoid any potential problems. *Know how long it will take you to get your proofs and/or prints back. Time is of the essence. We all know that if too much time has gone by after the event, we tend to lose interest and enthusiasm in seeing the pictures. In this sense, also keep in mind that the amount you pay should be somewhat proportional to how long it will actually take before you get to see the pictures. Choosing a wedding photographer is never easy. It?s one of those headaches that just go along with planning a wedding and that is something that must be accepted. However, by paying close attention and choosing a wedding photographer who you can communicate well with will help guarantee that your special day goes as smoothly and problem-free as it possibly can. Then you can remember your special day the way you always wanted to. Green Weddings: Couples Say ?I Do? To Conflict-Free Wedding Jewelry And Earth-Friendly Nuptials

In the world of engagements and wedding planning, green is the new white. From conflict-free wedding jewelry, to an environmentally-conscientious reception, with an eco-friendly honeymoon to round out the nuptials, couples are throwing out the era of Bridezilla and ushering in the age of green weddings. And it all starts with that oh-so-special wedding jewelry. Choosing a diamond engagement ring (http://www.danforthdiamond.com) and wedding bands are incredibly personal decisions that are also becoming ethical decisions. Socially aware couples now want to ensure that their wedding jewelry selections are not linked to human rights abuses or have not negatively impacted the environment. Conflict-free Diamonds Until recent years, newly engaged couples were blissfully unaware that an untold number of corrupt organizations in African countries were illegally mining diamonds that are directly linked to human rights abuses. The good news is that more than 40 nations worldwide, including the United States, now voluntarily participate in the Kimberly Process, a system that imposes stringent requirements on imports to certify that diamonds are free from conflict. 99.8% of the global production of rough diamonds is now accounted for through the Kimberly Process. Reputable engagement and wedding jewelry retailers readily confirm the origin of any stone. Online retailers are particularly sensitive to consumer concerns regarding the genesis of their diamonds. Leading online retailers, such as Danforth Diamond, My Solitaire, and Brilliant Earth actively educate consumers by providing helpful information on their websites to ensure that accurate information is easily accessible. Green Gold? For those who truly want guilt-free glitter, there are a number of retailers who offer recycled gold for wedding bands and the like. Concerned about a lackluster green ring? Worry not. Recycled gold, which is melted and re-refined, is the same quality as newly-mined gold. NoDirtyGold.org publishes an ever-growing and impressive list of retailers who support the responsible production of gold. Vintage jewelry is also enjoying a resurgence in popularity as brides and grooms opt to purchase estate jewelry or wear wedding rings that have been passed down from a family member. Eco-friendly weddings aren?t just for the granola crunching crowd nowadays ? and conflict-free diamond engagement rings and recycled gold wedding jewelry are just the beginning. As green weddings become more mainstream, the options and price ranges are increasingly abundant. Earth-friendly Invitations Wedding invitations printed with soy- or vegetable-based inks on recycled paper are a mainstay for green couples. If that?s not green enough for you, perhaps paperless invitations are the way to go; simply extend electronic invitations for guests who can be contacted via email. Emailed RSVPs offer an added bonus: guests are more likely to respond promptly, allowing you to accurately plan your headcount. Location, Location, Location A central wedding location that requires minimal travel for most guests will save on carbon emissions. Booking a venue that can host the wedding ceremony and reception will further reduce carbon emissions. Art galleries, botanical gardens, eco-friendly restaurants, hotels and parks are all excellent choices. Here Comes the Bride Something old, something new, something borrowed? something green? You betcha. Green brides can choose lovely, previously-worn gowns from vintage stores or gown consignment and rental shops. Brides can also turn to their family tree for a wonderfully sentimental heirloom gown. A number of designers have also embraced the eco-friendly trend and offer extravagant gowns made of hemp silk. Wedding Favors as Decorations Organic, locally grown flowers for bouquets and centerpieces offer a fresh, seasonal touch. Flower arrangements used at the wedding can perform double duty by being moved to the reception. Potted plants also make lovely arrangements and can be transplanted outdoors after the wedding or can serve as gifts that guests can take home. The Gift that Keeps Giving Portovert Magazine, the nation?s first and only online publication devoted exclusively to environmentally and socially responsible weddings, and NativeEnergy offer a carbon emissions calculator that can be used to evaluate wedding-related carbon sources, including travel, guest lodging and power used at the wedding venues, which can help in the planning of a carbon-neutral wedding. You can find it here: http://www.nativeenergy.com/Splash/Portovert/portovert_wedding_calc.html. Couples can also offset the carbon emissions produced as a result of their nuptials by making contributions to an eco organization of their choice or requesting that guests do the same in lieu of a wedding gift. Paying it Forward Eco-friendly tours, green hotel resorts, simple outdoor adventures, volunteer work for a preservation project ? green honeymoons run the gamut and cater to a variety of preferences and budgets. From relaxing and luxuriant to active and outdoorsy, newlyweds can take their dream green vacation that celebrates the beginning of their new life together and the future of our planet. And to think that it all began with a diamond engagement ring. Green weddings provide couples the opportunity to make a lifelong commitment to each other and to their world. Every wedding anniversary, from the ?small? ones to the milestones years is an opportunity to renew that commitment for now and for years to come. Perhaps a future generation will honor that same commitment by choosing to wear your ?heirloom? wedding jewelry.
